Today is Earth Day and there is a lot of events all around the world to promote environment. I am going to present you some of them happening today and the following days for this 40th edition.
- Earth Day organizer choose Rabat, Morocco among 6 cities in the world (Washington, New York, Rome, Shanghai and Mumbai) to be the first city of the day and proclaim it “green city”. Festivals, concerts, exhibitions and many events will take place on this day.
- The French association, Planete Urgence created a website, named mon arbre ma tibu (my tree, my tribe) in which you can design and plant your own tree, learn about their objectives, etc. To plant a tree it is only 1 euro. The interesting thing in this initiative is that they encourage people to act and decide what they are going to do with their donation in choosing which tree and where they want to plant it. So it is a good answer to the question « where goes my money? ». Moreover it is fun, interactive and a cheap donation. Good job!
- On April 24th, Million Tree NYC Association will organize a planting day in several parks in NYC:
Bronx Pehlam: Bay Park: Hunter Island
Raoul Wallenberg Forest
Brooklyn: Gateway NRA: Floyd Bennett Fiel
Spring Creek Park
Queens: Roy Wilkins Park
Staten Island: Ocean Breeze Park
Clove Lakes Park
Wolfe’s Pond Park
- On April 25th, The Earth Day CLIMATE RALLY will take place at National Mall, Washington DC.
